We're bursting with pride for Ollie Lepage Dean, who completed the Snowdonia Sea2Sky Ultra Marathon in an awe-inspiring 7 hours and 45 minutes, all in support of Young Lives Vs Cancer.
Not only is Ollie an SJCS alumnus, as well as our Deputy Head of Boarding and a dedicated teacher, he's also a shining example of resilience, generosity, and determination. His achievement speaks volumes, not just in miles run, but in the powerful message it sends to our pupils: that courage, compassion, and commitment can take you far.
'Running marathons and physical challenges have always meant a lot to me. This felt like the ultimate test: long distance, rough terrain, unpredictable weather, the full package, so myself and my good friend Pat decided to take it on.
But this run wasn't just for me. It was also for something very close to my heart. A family I’ve known for many years, also in the St John’s College School Community has been through an incredibly tough few months. Their eldest son, has been bravely battling lymphoma. Thankfully, he is now on the mend, which is the most amazing news.
I asked the family if I could run this race in support of him. They told me that Young Lives vs Cancer has been an incredible source of support throughout everything. So I ran this Ultra Marathon, not only in support of this family, but also to raise awareness of the charity and the vital work they do for so many children and families.'
Congratulations Mr Lepage Dean, you've truly gone the distance for a cause close to all our hearts.
