The sun shone on our brilliant team of St John's runners on 9th March as they took on the challenge of running 13.1 miles through Cambridge's beautiful city centre. The team comprised of staff, including our Head, as well as St John's parents.
"I was delighted to support our School by running the Cambridge Half. I was never going to do it in a fast time so I was very slow. It was a beautiful day and fantastic to see so many supporters." (Neil Chippington, Head)
Our community showed incredible support, with pupils, parents, and staff all coming together to cheer on our team along the route. The team have been training hard since the Michaelmas term, all for a great cause—raising over £2,000 (and counting!) for our St John's Bursary Fund.
The SJCS Bursary Endowment Fund is a vital initiative led by the new Development Director. This fundraising campaign is dedicated to transforming lives by increasing opportunities for deserving children in our community to benefit from a St John’s education.
With your support, we can grow the number of pupils in School on bursaries, ensuring that talent and potential—not financial circumstances—determine a child’s access to an outstanding education.
"I feel very happy to have completed my first half marathon ever in support of the School's Bursary Fund. It was a beautiful day in Cambridge, with an incredible atmosphere and support throughout, which made the effort all the more worthwhile!" (Elisa Alt, St John's parent)
This marks the beginning of many community-led fundraising initiatives, with more exciting events planned for the future. The School warmly encourages St John's friends and family to get involved and support these projects.
